Learn to swim with Hammerhead Aquatics!

Please visit this link to learn more about our classes!

At Hammerhead Aquatics we have developed our own swim program, covering from infants to adults, special needs, adaptive aquatics and aquatic therapy. Coach John Grzeszczak has 45 years of teaching experience, along with a hand picked staff who are specially trained in the Hammerhead way!

Our program starts with small goals for each level, in a positive nurturing environment helping each swimmer get to their full potential as a swimmer. We work with private and small groups, with a program that is a proven method, thru years of experience.

Each level’s goals are clearly stated, and must be achieved to progress to the next level. We offer year round classes and instruction, and soon will have the only indoor 50 meter facility in South Florida, we will be weather and sun proof.

We look forward to helping your swimmer and your family achieve a water safe environment and start them on a lifelong journey of the greatest sport in the world, Swimming!

While, no program can guarantee drown proofing of swimmers, we will give your swimmer every skill necessary at each level to enjoy water related activities.

We offer classes for infants, young children, special needs, adults, competitive swimming thru USA Swimming, and United States Masters swimming team for adults. Lifeguard training, AED, First Aid, and CPR courses are also available.

Come swim with us.

Thank you,

Coach John Grzeszczak and the Hammerhead Staff and family

We need your help!

Dear South Florida Swimming Community,

We at Hammerhead Aquatics have an ambitious project underway that we believe will be an asset to the community and help to promote healthy living, exercise and water safety.

For those that do not know me, my name is John Grzeszczak and I am swim coach and leader at Hammerhead Aquatics, a local Masters and USA Swimming program here in South Florida.

I am in the process of redeveloping the old Goodwill site located at 550 East Oakland Park Boulevard in Wilton Manors. Our project consists of repurposing the existing building into an indoor pool (50 meters & 8 lanes), a therapy pool, classroom, flex training room and lockers and showers. We have been working on the project since the beginning of the year and have recently been approved by the City’s Design Review Committee. Our next step includes going to the Planning and Zoning Board, then the City Commission (for two [2] meetings), then back to the Planning and Zoning Board. When we get through this process then we can move onto getting a construction permit and start the construction.

However, we need your help!

If you are in support of the project, we would like for you to reach out to the Planning and Zoning Board and the City Commission and voice our support. The first Planning and zoning meeting is this coming MONDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2018 at 7pm. Please attend, and bring your family and friends to show your support!.

Below is the project fact sheet and the contact information for the Planning and Zoning Board as well as the City Commission. Please call or email who you can and express your support and interest for the project. In addition, once we get the schedule for the meetings, if you are able to attend, in support of the project, please attend the meetings and speak in support of the project.

Stay tuned for meeting dates and I will post them on the Hammerheads Facebook page and let everyone know of the meeting date.
We are very excited at the opportunity to bring an indoor, first class, indoor swimming pool to the community.

Thank you for your interest! And CU in the Pool!

John Grzeszczak

Wilton Manors currently lacks a wellness oriented destination. This project will include a covered 50-meter swimming pool and therapy pool for masters swimming training, swim for exercise, swim lessons, competitions, exercise, physical therapy programs, and adult as well as infant classes. Additional spaces are to include recreational rooms, an outdoor kitchen, and a classroom for after school programs and camps. The design and redevelopment of this facility will significantly improve the community by creating a public amenity beneficial for all ages.
The project site is located at 550 E Oakland Park Boulevard, Wilton Manors, FL 33334 and is the vacant Goodwill building.

Program elements include:
1. 8-lane 50-meter lap pool
2. Therapy pool
3. Warm-up area for dry land workouts and stretching
4. Pool showers
5. Women’s locker rooms / bathrooms
6. Men’s locker rooms / bathrooms
7. Outdoor kitchen
8. Outdoor patio
9. Pro shop
10. Classroom
11. Office
12. Rooftop deck

As part of the approval process, the parcel’s zoning needs to change from limited industrial (LI) to general business (B3). The B3 zoning is the only zoning classification that would allow an aquatic center, as it falls under the land use of “athletic instruction”. Once the rezoning has been approved by the City Commission, then we go back to the planning and zoning board for approval.

In addition to the rezoning, we are asking the City to grant five (5) variances. The purpose for these requests stem from the geometry of the site. The site was developed in the 1950’s, and the City’s current land development regulations would restrict the use of the site. However, the current site plan meets the intent of the code and will be an improvement to what currently exists.

If you would like to learn more about the project, please feel to reach out to me at

In addition, we have provided the current contact information for the Planning and Zoning Board and City Commission, if you support the project, please let the City’s decision makers understand the level of support in the community.

Hi everyone ,
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all this season. I hope each of you the best, and look forward to a great 2017! Please read below for Christmas Practice Schedule, and other news.
The Gifts you provided for the kids were delivered yesterday, and the school was overwhelmed, with our generous help, and says a big thank you to everyone! We had a few extra items and the ladies, at the school, who I have known for several years, identified a few more kids, who were not on the list, that they would go to. I thank you, they thank you, and feel good about yourselves, and how its speaks volumes of who we are as a team..

257.6 seconds of improvement, that’s over 4 minutes 29 seconds of improvenent

36 best times were achieved out of our 50 swims

13 Junior Olympic cuts off times were achieved this weekend  Add that total to our all ready qualified events totaling 20  and we have six swimmers participating in 33 events next weekend.  That’s quite unbelievable!!!
